- The Fourth Sunday of Lent is traditionally known as Laetare Sunday. The word ‘Laetare’ means “Rejoice”, and it reminds us that even in the midst of our Lenten journey of prayer, fasting and repentance, the joy of Easter is already beginning to shine through. In the Gospel this Sunday (John 9:1–41) we hear the powerful story of the man born blind whom Jesus restores to sight. At first the man sees only darkness, but after encountering Christ his eyes are opened and he gradually comes to recognise who Jesus truly is. The miracle is not only about physical sight; it is about the deeper gift of spiritual sight. While the man who was blind comes to believe, others who think they can see remain closed to the truth. This Gospel invites each of us to reflect on our own lives. During Lent we are asked to allow Christ to open our eyes: to see more clearly the ways in which God is present in our lives, to recognise our need for healing and forgiveness, and to grow in faith. As we continue our Lenten journey, may we allow the light of Christ to guide us more fully.

- The Holy Father’s Prayer Intention for March is for nuclear disarmament and peace, and families in crisis — that broken families might discover the cure for their wounds through forgiveness, rediscovering each other’s gifts even in their differences. We are encouraged to keep this intention in our prayers throughout the month.
- As we journey through Lent, we are also mindful of Bishop Patrick’s Five-Year Diocesan Mission Plan, “Go, make disciples of all nations.” Lent is a privileged time to renew our commitment to this call — deepening our own relationship with Christ and finding simple, practical ways to share faith, hope, and love with others.
- Please continue to pray for the Diocesan 5 year plan ‘Go make Disciples…..’ Pope Francis reminded us, “without prayer all our activity risks being fruitless and our message empty. Jesus wants each of us to be people who bear witness to His good news, not only with words but above all by a life transfigured by God’s presence.”(Evangelii Gaudium, 259). (P9)
